Today marks history for the old Australian boat that has been out of water for over a year! Cracking Media joined the rowers at Rossiter Rowing Boats boatyard in Christchurch Priory this morning to capture the boat’s first test in the water. It was an emotional moment all around as the reality of the guy’s epic rowing challenge around the UK sets in (or the boys just got some seawater in their eyes)!
Now that we know the boat works (phew!) the finishing touches are being made. Today the waterline of the boat was marked and currently has been taken out of the water to get its final lick of paint to protect it from algae, then all of the generous donators and sponsor’s names and logos will be added to the boat. If you wish to donate towards this challenge for two great charities Wessex Cancer Trust and Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF), its not too late! Just visit http://goo.gl/LHd7Ak and you may still be able to get your name around the UK. It would be very much appreciated! Then all that’s left to do is to have its final test run on Friday, ready for launch day Saturday afternoon!
BBC South Today made an appearance for the test run earlier today, and interviewed the rowers to get their final thoughts before the big day. Catch that at 6.30pm tonight to get the latest from @Steen Stones. Donating isn’t the only way to show your support, please spread the word with your friends and family. Or share your support by coming along to Boscombe Pier on Saturday at 4pm to see the launch for yourself. We look forward to seeing you down there! (we have stickers…)
